HIGH SCHOOL/MIDDLE SCHOOL CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT

TOURNAMENT RULES

 

It is the intent of Ice Line to provide a fun and competitive tournament for all of the participants and all of the spectators. Good Sportsmanship is expected of all participants. Improper and abusive behavior will not be tolerated! It is the responsibility of each coach to control his team and exemplify good sportsmanship.

 

Game Times

·         Game will consist of three stop time periods. All games are 12/12/15 minute periods.

·         All games will be played to completion.

·         The clock will run during the third period of any game where the goal differential is 6 or more. Stop time will resume only if the goal spread becomes two goals or less, or for injuries.

 

Penalties

·         This is a USA Hockey tournament. All USA Hockey rules for penalties shall apply.

·         Any player receiving four penalties in one game will be ejected from that game. USA Hockey rule is five penalties, but carries a suspension.

·         Fighting will not be tolerated and will result in that player being suspended from the tournament.

 

Rules

·         USA Hockey rules will govern all tournament play.

·         All eligible players must be listed on their tournament roster.  Rosters are frozen after each team’s first game.

·         Teams must be prepared to start 15 minutes before scheduled game time.

 

Playoff Seeding after divisional play.

·         The top four teams in each division with the exception of Varsity AA will advance to their semi final rounds.

·         The top eight teams in the Varsity AA tournament will advance to the quarter finals.

·         By total points. Two points for a Win, One point for a Tie, and Zero points for a loss.

·         Tie Breaker will be as follows:

1.      Winner of the Head to Head game played between the two tied teams. This tie breaker does not apply if three teams are tied.

2.      Best goal quotient. Total goals scored divided by total goals against in the games played between the tied teams. The team with the greatest quotient advances.

3.      Best total goal quotient. Total goals scored divided by total goals against using ALL games played.

4.      Lowest goals against.

5.      Least number of penalties assessed. Each penalty shall count as one team penalty.

 

 

Over Time Rules - Sudden Death (Playoff Rounds Only)

·         Overtime will be Ten Minutes Sudden Death.

·         If no team has scored at the end of Overtime, a shoot-out will take place. Five players shooting for each team. If still tied at the end of this shoot-out, another shoot-out will occur with five new players from each team. This process will continue until one team outscores the other.
