Skating Etiquette for Freestyle Sessions

§         Checking In! Prior to entering the ice, skaters must pay and sign in at the front office.  Skaters must exit the ice promptly at the end of their session.

§         Right-Of-Way! Skaters practicing programs have first priority. Students in private lessons have second priority. Please be aware of skaters with the right-of-way and refrain from skating through the paths of programs and lessons!

§         Respect the Facility!  Do not purposefully kick or put holes in the ice; all holes in the ice are to be filled at the end of each session. Do not damage the rink property in any way.

§         Be Resourceful! Use your ice time wisely and refrain from standing around or talking on the ice. This not only wastes expensive ice time, but also presents an additional hazard for others skaters.

§         Rebound Quickly! If you fall, recover quickly. Remember that other skaters have a hard time seeing objects on the ice.  Unless you are injured, please do not lay on the ice.

§         Make Way for the Lutz! Skating jumps are commonly performed in the corners. Please strive to avoid long-term practice activities in the corners.  Also, be especially aware of your surroundings when you are in the corners of the rink.

§         Watch Out for those Blades! Use caution when performing leg-lifting moves that expose your blade, such as forward or backward spirals and camel spins. These elements can be very dangerous if you fail to watch where you are skating.

§         Courtesy is our Policy!  It is essential to respect the rights of other skaters and be constantly aware of your environment. If you are surrounded by skaters of significantly greater or lesser skills, please be especially careful! Strive to avoid collisions.
