Rules and Regulations

League Play Rules

  1. The deadline for rosters is each team’s FIRST game. Roster changes may be made, at the discretion of the Commissioner, until 12/31 of the current season during the fall and prior to the third game in Spring/Fall. Team rosters are limited to eighteen players and two goalies, with ONE additional goalie listed as substitute (emergency only goalie). Jersey numbers MUST be included on the roster. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  2. All Ice Line Adult League participants must be USA Hockey registered. The individual player is responsible for hi/her registration and payment to USA Hockey
  3. All rules will follow USA Hockey standards. Checking is not permitted in any division.
  4. All players must be at least eighteen years of age as of their first scheduled game.
  5. Game Misconducts/Ejections-Any player receiving a game misconduct (for any reason) will be suspended for the remainder of that game and the next game. There will be a 2 game misconduct for verbal abuse of an official. Players will be suspended for two additional games for a second game misconduct. For a third game misconduct, a player will be suspended for the remainder of the season and playoffs at the discretion of the Commissioner. 4 Penalties will result in a player’s dismissal from THAT game. Fighting will result in an automatic two game suspension. Game misconducts from the previous season will carry over to the next season if not served.
  6. Any team trailing by seven or more goals after the end of the second period has the option to allow a running clock anytime in the third period. The trailing team must notify the referee of their intentions after the 2nd Period or at any stoppage in play during the 3rd Period. The clock will remain running for the remainder of the game.
  7. There will be a Sudden Death Overtime Period of 5 minutes (running Time) if the regulation game ends in a tie. The puck will be faced off at center ice following the end of regulation with out delay. If the score is tied after the Overtime Period, then the game will end in a tie.
  8. In all Playoff games, if necessary, there will be a ten minute Sudden Death Overtime Period running clock. If the game is still tied after the overtime, a shootout will take place, unless otherwise decided by the league Commissioner. For the shootout, each team selects five players to shoot one-on-one with the opponent’s goalie. The teams will rotate shooters. The team with the most goals in the shootout will win the game. If the teams remain tied after the first five shooters, the shootout becomes sudden death. If a team uses all of its players, both teams can use players that have already participated in the shootout.
  9. Playoff Eligibility: Players must play in at least eight (8) games in the fall season, three (3) games for the spring league, three (3) games for the summer league to be eligible for playoffs.
  1. Multi Team Play:
    1. Players are limited to play on teams entered into the “A” and/or “B” Division but not on two teams within the same division.
    2. Players are limited to play on teams entered into either of the “C” Divisions but not on two teams within the same division.
    3. Any player participating in the C League is not eligible to be rostered on Any other team in at Any other level. With the exception of the 35 & Over League.
  2. All protests must be directed, IN WRITING, to the Commissioner within 48 hours of the incident under protest. Illegal player protests will be reviewed by the Commissioner. Any team found using an illegal player will automatically forfeit that game. The team Captain shall receive a one (1) game suspension for the first offense. Second offense for an illegal player shall be a three game suspension. The third offense will be a five (5) game suspension and a review by the Commissioner.
  3. All Match penalties are sent to the USA Hockey District for penalty assessment. The league Commissioner will levy any additional suspensions incurred by any player receiving a match penalty. All Commissioners decisions will be final. All players MUST be registered with USA Hockey and be able to provide registration cards if challenged by the Commissioner. All communication will be between the team captain and the Commissioner. Players are asked to communicate questions or concerns with their team captain.
  4. Ice Line is committed to providing a safe adult league. As a result, it reserves the right to suspend, expel, or otherwise prevent any player from playing that Ice Line determines, in its sole discretion, is detrimental to the safe operation of the league. Ice Line also reserves the right to refuse or deny the application of any prospective player that Ice Line determines, in its sole discretion, to be detrimental to the safe operation of the league.
  5. Both teams should be ready to start the game 5 minutes after the scheduled start time (i.e.; Ready to start at 10:05 for a scheduled 10:00 start).
  6. Ice Line reserves the right to change its rules or guidelines at any time. Teams and players are encouraged to check the league’s website throughout the season for any updates.

Team Rules

  1. All teams must have matching colored jerseys with an individually identifying number. Jerseys are available in the pro shop at a cost of $12.00, including numbering. In the event of a color conflict, the home team will wear their jerseys and the away team will wear pinnies.
  2. Team captains are responsible for having the correct team roster information on the score sheet. This includes each player’s name and number that is present for that game. No player is eligible to play if his/her name is not on the roster, after the deadline. Player’s numbers must be correct. If a player has to wear an alternative jersey, it must be noted on the scoresheet with an asterisk (*). Players must sign roster sheet prior to the start of the game. Team Captain will receive a One Game Suspension for Violation of this rule.
  3. Each team and individual player is responsible for paying the season’s league fees by the applicable due date. These fees are set before each session. Any teams that have not paid in full by the applicable date will not be allowed to participate in any Ice Line adult league functions, including games.
  4. Teams will be requested to move to a more competitive division of if deemed necessary by the Ice Line Adult League Commisioner.
  5. All Commissioners decisions will be final

 

Adult League Playoff Tie Breakers

1.   Head to Head between teams that are tied.

 (Does not apply if 3 or more teams are tied)

 

2.   Goal Differential (GF – GA) of games played between tied teams

 

3.   Goal Quotient (GF÷GA) of games played between tied teams    

 

4.   Goal Quotient (GF÷GA) of All games played

 

5.   Goals Against

 

6.   Goals For

 

7.   Least amount of Penalties in All of the games played

 

8.   Decision to be made by League Commissioner

 

Tie Breakers must break ALL ties; otherwise, the next Tie Breaker is used until all Ties are broken.
