Rules and Regulations
League Play Rules
- ALL PLAYERS MUST BE USA HOCKEY REGISTERED TO
PARTICIPATE IN THE ICE LINE ADULT LEAGUE!!!
- The deadline for rosters is each team’s PRIOR to the
teams FIRST game. Roster changes may be made, at the
discretion and knowledge of the Commissioner, until 12/31 of the current
season during the fall and prior to the third game in Spring/Summer. Team
rosters are limited to eighteen players and two goalies, with
ONE additional goalie listed as
substitute (emergency only goalie). Jersey numbers MUST be included on
the roster. NO EXCEPTIONS!
- All rules will follow USA Hockey standards. Checking
is not permitted in any division.
- All players must be at least eighteen years of age
as of their first scheduled game.
- Any player receiving a game misconduct (for any
reason) will be suspended for the remainder of that game and the next
game. There will be a 2 game misconduct
for verbal abuse of an official. Players will be suspended for two
additional games for a second game misconduct. For a third game misconduct,
a player will be suspended for the remainder of the season and playoffs at
the discretion of the Commissioner. 4
Penalties will result in a player’s dismissal from THAT game.
Fighting will result in a two game suspension automatically. Game
misconducts from the previous season will carry over to the next season if
not served.
- Any team trailing by seven or more goals after
the end of two periods has the option of allowing the clock to run. The
trailing team must notify the referee of their intentions after a stoppage
in play.
- REGULATION TIES: There will be a Sudden
Death Shootout. The Shootout will consist of 5 individual players taking
alternating shots. Home team shoots last. If the score is tied after the
Overtime Period, then the game will end in a tie. Regulation Tie =
one (1) point for each team

(1) point for winning team
- In all Playoff games, if necessary, there will
be a ten minute Sudden Death Overtime Period. If the game is still
tied after the overtime, a shootout will take place, unless otherwise
decided by the league Commissioner. For the shootout, each team selects five
players to shoot one-on-one with the opponent’s goalie. The teams will
rotate shooters. The team with the most goals in the shootout will win the
game. If tied after the first five shooters, it will become a sudden death
shootout. If a team uses all of its players, both teams can use
players that have already participated in the shootout.
- Playoff Eligibility: Players must play in at
least eight (8) games in the fall season, three (3) games for the spring
league, three (3) games for the summer league to be eligible for playoffs.
- Multi Team Play:
- Players are limited to play on teams entered into
the “A” and/or “B” Division but not on two teams within the same
division.
- Players are limited to play on teams entered into
either of the “C” Divisions but not on two teams within the same
division.
- Any
player participating in the C League is not eligible to be rostered on
Any other team in at Any other level.
- All protests must be directed, IN WRITING, to the
Commissioner within 48 hours of the incident under protest. Illegal
player protests will be reviewed by the Commissioner. Any team found using
an illegal player will automatically forfeit that game. The team Captain
shall receive a one (1) game suspension for the first offense. Second
offense for an illegal player shall be a three game suspension. The third
offense will be a five (5) game suspension and a review by the Commissioner.
- The league
Commissioner will levy any additional suspensions incurred by any player
receiving a match penalty. All Match penalties are sent to the USA Hockey
District for penalty assessment. All Commissioners decisions will
be final. All players MUST be registered with USA Hockey and be able to
provide registration cards if challenged by the Commissioner. All
communication will be between the team captain and the Commissioner.
Players are asked to communicate questions or concerns with their team
captain.
- Ice Line is committed to providing a safe adult
league. As a result, it reserves the right to suspend, expel, or otherwise
prevent any player from playing that Ice Line determines, in its sole
discretion, is detrimental to the safe operation of the league. Ice Line
also reserves the right to refuse or deny the application of any prospective
player that Ice Line determines, in its sole discretion, to be detrimental
to the safe operation of the league.
- Both teams should be
ready to start the game 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time (i.e.;
Ready to start at 10:15 for a scheduled 10:30 start).
- Ice Line reserves the right to change its rules or
guidelines at any time. Teams and players are encouraged to check the
league’s website throughout the season for any updates.
- All Commissioners decisions will be final.
Team Rules
- All teams must have matching jerseys with an
individually identifying number on the back of the jersey. Numbers
must be fixed; tape is not an option!!! Jerseys are available in the pro
shop at a cost of $12.00, including numbering. In the event of a
color conflict, the home team will wear their jerseys and the away team will
wear pinnies.
- Team captains are responsible for having the correct
team roster information on the score sheet. This includes each player’s name
and number that is present for that game. No player is eligible to play if
his/her name is not on the roster, after the deadline. Player’s numbers must
be correct. If a player has to wear an alternative jersey, it must be noted
on the score sheet with an asterisk (*). Players must sign roster sheet
prior to the start of the game. Team
Captain will receive a One Game Suspension for Violation of this rule.
- Each team and individual player is responsible for
paying the season’s league fees by the applicable due date. These fees are
set before each session. Any teams that have not paid in full by the
applicable date will not be allowed to participate in any Ice Line adult
league functions, including games.
